According to Wikipedia, Foursquare is a location-based social networking website for mobile devices, such as smartphones. Users check in at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application by selecting from a list of venues the application locates nearby. Location is based on GPS hardware in the mobile device or network location provided by the application. Each check-in awards the user points and sometimes badges.

I enjoyed earning points and getting badges as awards for my check ins.

Foursquare has something like Facebook too. You can like one of your friend's check in status or comment in it. And if you check in, you have options to share your check in to your other social networking accounts like Facebook and Twitter. If you have Instagram, you can use it too.
If you are in a place you're not familiar with, you can click that EXPLORE tab to look for best restaurant, bars, malls and many more.

ReplyDeleteInteresting but I never get to try it till now even if I've already owned a smartphone. I don't want the public to know my whereabouts. I'd still want to keep my location in private. I've read not so long ago that it's one way of safeguarding your own safety from God-knows-who. While still on travel, never disclose your specific location to anyone except for trusted family and friends. So there! ;-)
